Description
Join Me and my Superhero Self as we venture into different lands. I’ll share my feelings towards reading, and tips to help you feel confident to give reading a go. There’s also fun activities to do along the way!
I’m a Dyslexic Superhero is a 42 page full colour children’s book, written from a 7 year olds perspective. This book is honest, uplifting and fun for primary/elementary school kids with or without dyslexia. It’s also kid approved which is especially important for reluctant readers.
I’m a Dyslexic Superhero is ideal for kids with dyslexia, parents, teachers, therapists, counsellors, psychologists, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, libraries, kindergarten programs, language teachers/tutors and many more.
Teachers can use this book as an informative and fun tool. (See the contents page image for all inclusions). This book shares dyslexic struggles and strengths to raise awareness and acceptance of this difference all while boosting a child’s confidence. Every classroom needs this book.
The author does not claim to be an expert in dyslexia. The purpose of this book is to support young dyslexic children (and their parents) by acknowledging their struggles and recognising their talents to help them feel understood.

By writing this book to help Kyla you have also found a practical & fun way to help so many other children.

I liked this book because of how comprehensive it is. The presentation is very friendly, deals carefully with the topic,
and gives very useful hints for both children and the adults who care for them.

I’ve had several educators refer to it for ideas to support their children. It’s also allowed us to understand the children’s view & then modify how we scaffold their learning.

Really awesome for kids with dyslexia (and their families). Written from the perspective of a primary aged kid who actually has dyslexia in real life and it includes facts for parents in the front and activities for children in the back, it’s a total winner. Would be really great for primary/elementary school teachers too.

My 8yr old daughter has dyslexia and has felt like she is the only one that struggles at school. When we read this book together she said ‘So there’s lots of kids and adults like me? Cool.’ I love how the book shares the girls feelings and gives practical, age appropriate tips to help her. My girl really felt like someone knew her own feelings – and that’s half the battle to help your child feel understood. She wanted to do the activities right away too.

I am always a bit wary about buying books online as you can’t flip through them. I took a punt on this one and I’m so glad I did. I didn’t expect so much to be included in the book. So many layers of information, easy to digest and super fun. I’ll be using this as a parent of a dyslexic child and at school (I’m a teacher). It will come in so handy year after year to help kids. Thanks.

Congratulations, this is simply an excellent idea.

What I loved as a Mom, was how the book weaves dyslexic strengths within it, so readers can feel empowered knowing their own super skills. Very clever. Oh and the kids activities at the end really left my daughter feeling really happy. Well done. I’m going to tell friends about this book. ;o)

I wanted a way for my daughter to explain what dyslexia is to her friends in class. This book is it! My daughter loves the illustrations and it’s simple and clear enough to share – it’s perfect. I also love how the character is a superhero as the kids all wanted to see what the book was about. I’ll buy this book for our friend who has dyslexia aswell. I know she’ll get a lot out of it too. Highly recommend.

Narrated from the viewpoint of a dyslexic elementary school student, the novel is both realistic and perceptive. In addition to addressing the emotional difficulties dyslexic kids encounter, it provides helpful hints and techniques. The book is a great resource for both home and school settings since it strikes a mix between information for parents and fun activities for children.
This book stands out for its attitude to empowerment. Young readers with dyslexia gain a sense of strength and capacity from the superhero theme, which appeals to kids all across the world. Its usefulness as a teaching and therapeutic tool is increased by the considerate addition of a QR code for further activities. Anybody who wants to empower and encourage kids with dyslexia should own this book.
